Hydration 101

Staying hydrated is SO important! Especially during the summer months when we are prone to dehydration. Here are a few fun facts about water:

  • Adult humans are 60 percent water, and our blood is 90 percent water.

  • There is no universally agreed quantity of water that must be consumed daily.

  • Water is essential for the kidneys and other bodily functions.

  • When dehydrated, the skin can become more vulnerable to skin disorders and wrinkling.

  • Drinking water instead of soda can help with weight loss.

Here are some other amazing benefits of drinking water:

-It boosts performance during exercise

-It helps maintain blood pressure

-It flushes body waste

-The digestive system depends on it

-It regulates body temperature

-It cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues

-It boosts skin health and beauty

-It delivers oxygen throughout the body

-It forms saliva and mucus

-It lubricates the joints

Aim to drink half your body weight in oz. of water per day. (Example: 200lb person- 100oz of H2O per day). Try drinking a bottle of water first thing in the morning (add a splash of lemon for a metabolism boost), before every meal, and before, during, and after every workout! <3
